Programming Trends
Netflix and The CW has had a partnership that goes back to 2011. This partnership would bring The CW shows to Netflix days after their season finales aired on the channel. Shows like The 100 and Riverdale have benefited a lot from this deal and became very popular once appearing on Netflix. Although their partnership ended in 2019, Netflix and The CW boosted their viewerships by working together and getting these shows exposure. My favorite CW/Netflix shows are All American, The 100, and Riverdale. Each one of these shows has appeared as Netflix number 1 show at some point, and 2 out of the 3 shows (All American and Riverdale) still run new episodes.
Riverdale first came out in 2017, it ran on The CW for the first 13 episodes before appearing on Netflix. The season would be remembered as a summer breakout for Netflix. It was such a win for Netflix that many people believed it was Netflix show. The next season was a win for CW as the season 2 premiere ranked as the most streamed episode in the platform's history.
ALL American was The CW least watched primetime show for it first 2 seasons, Netflix has given this show an audience. It went from dying off to becoming Netflix #1 show, and I can say it is my favorite show to watch so I was a little surprised that it was barely getting views on CW. Currently the show just finished its 4th season, it has yet to appear on Netflix but it should be coming soon.
The 100 was one of the first CW shows that I seen on Netflix years ago. I remember when season 1 first came out, nobody heard of the show until it got put on Netflix. One of the most talked about shows in high school and it ran for 7 seasons.
